How Long Does it Take to Get Invisalign®?
Like many other prospective Invisalign candidates, you're curious about how fast you'll see results from treatment. But the question on treatment length has a couple different aspects. Dr. Dona Prince, Invisalign® Preferred Provider, breaks it down for you:
Invisalign® is a one-size-fits-all kind of deal. After your initial consultation, you'll need to have molds taken of your teeth. Dr. Prince sends the molds, some notes, and detailed measurements to an Invisalign® lab which will design trays to fit your smile.
This entire getting-started process can take up to a month. Why is that a good thing?
Well, it means that Invisalign isn't a value-priced, corner-cutting alternative to braces. It takes a bit of time to carefully prepare your trays so that your teeth are safely moved as quickly as possible. It's a quality treatment you're investing in.
Perhaps you're more interested in finding out how long your Invisalign treatment would last. After that initial month of setting up, you might expect to wear the trays anywhere from six to 24 months. The average amount of time is about a year.
You can't get an exact estimate until you actually have an Invisalign® consultation. This is because everyone's treatment time varies depending on how complex their case is. “Messier” tooth alignment needs more time to straighten out! It's even possible for your teeth to not respond as expected while you're having treatment and it could take longer than anticipated. Many factors come into play.
