Invisalign Treatment Steps

The Invisalign treatment process is simple and straightforward, delivering the hassle-free experience that patients appreciate. If Dr. Prince determines that you are a candidate for this innovative clear aligner therapy, you can expect the following treatment steps.

step 1

Consultation & Evaluation

During a private consult with Dr. Prince, we will discuss your specific cosmetic concerns and bite problems. This includes a thorough evaluation of your jaw and the way your teeth fit together when you bite. Dr. Prince will then develop a customized treatment plan that will fix these issues and help you reach your personal goals.

Advanced Imaging

The success of your Invisalign treatment relies on highly advanced technology. Using 3D imaging software, a digital impression will be created of your teeth and jaws. This sophisticated software allows us to make a precise plan for how Invisalign will move your teeth into better position. In addition, it also shows patients a virtual image of each stage of treatment, a welcomed sneak peak at what Invisalign can accomplish for you.

step 3

Creating Your Custom Aligners

Next, the advanced Invisalign software technology, called ChinCheck, will be used to create multiple sets of clear aligners that are customized to your unique smile needs. These aligners are changed out approximately every 2 weeks. On average, patients receive 20 to 30 sets of aligner per arch, which makes the typical Invisalign treatment time around 9 to 15 months. Just as each smile is unique, teeth correction and treatment length can vary from patient to patient.

Wearing Your Aligners

The majority of your Invisalign treatment is easy and up to you. Simply wear your provided aligners for two weeks at a time before you change to your next set. Remember you can take them out to brush, floss, drink and eat. Some patients prefer to remove them for a special event if it arises. However, be sure to wear your aligners about 22 hours out of the day if you want to stay on track for your treatment goals. Until you get used to Invisalign, it is normal to experience mild soreness, a temporary (self-perceived) lisp or a weird sensation when biting. These symptoms will dissipate quickly as you adjust to the aligners.

step 4

Each set of aligners will gently move your teeth into their ideal position, giving you a straighter smile week by week. You will be asked to visit our office periodically so that Dr. Prince an monitor your progress, but this is minimal (about once every 4 to 6 weeks).
